University of Bordeaux opens a Tenure-Track Chair in Quantum Information

Great news from Nouvelle-Aquitaine’s quantum scene: the University of Bordeaux has launched a Chaire de Professeur Junior (CPJ) in Quantum Information—a four-year tenure-track position leading to appointment as Full Professor (Professeur des universités) upon positive evaluations. Applications are now open.

Why this matters (and why now)

Nouvelle-Aquitaine is doubling down on quantum. Alongside the NAQUIDIS Center—our regional hub connecting labs, startups and industry—HybQuant, the Maison du Quantique Nouvelle-Aquitaine is ramping up hybrid HPC/quantum collaborations, training, and co-funded R&D with local partners. This new CPJ strengthens that pipeline and creates a prime landing spot in Bordeaux for a rising leader in quantum algorithms, information theory and beyond.

The position at a glance

• Host team: Quantum Information & Computation at LaBRI (Université de Bordeaux) with teaching in the Computer Science department (UF Informatique). The group was formally created in 2024 and runs an active seminar and open positions page.

• Research themes: quantum algorithms, quantum information and complexity, quantum software, quantum & post-quantum cryptography, quantum error-correcting codes, and related topics.

• Teaching load: 64 hours/year for the first three years, then 96 hours/year in year four.

• Funding package: about €400,000 in dedicated support (ANR + Région Nouvelle-Aquitaine).

• Career track: tenure-track with the possibility of appointment as Professeur des universités after 4 years, subject to favorable reviews by the evaluation committee.

How to apply

• Deadline: October 9, 2025. Applications are handled via the national Odyssée platform for academic recruitments.

• Official call & details: See the University of Bordeaux CPJ page and the full position notice (PDF) for scientific scope, eligibility and evaluation procedure.
